When Devices May Be Used
Device use is a privilege. Students may use electronics before school, during passing periods, at lunch and after school.
During class, including Kadet Time (KAT) and Study Hall, students may use devices only with explicit teacher permission for an academic purpose.
Classroom and Hallway Expectations
Teachers may require students to place devices in a designated area at the start of a block.
Students must leave their phones in the classroom when going to the restroom, taking a drink break or leaving for a similar reason.
Students may not use phones in hallways or common areas during class time.
Defiance when asked to turn in a device results in a Dean referral for next-level consequences.
Violation Responses
Violations accumulate across all classes rather than separately within each class.
Violation | Response |
|---|---|
1st | Teacher confiscates or secures the device for the block, contacts home and submits a Dean referral to document the violation. |
2nd | Two lunch detentions and/or loss of privileges; Dean notifies parents. |
3rd | Two after-school detentions and/or loss of privileges; Dean notifies parents. |
4th | Saturday School and/or loss of privileges; Dean notifies parents. |
5th | Dean contacts parents to schedule a meeting. The team discusses detention time, in-school suspension and/or loss of privileges. |
