Incoming Freshmen and New Students

All parents of AAHS students will need to get a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDs) card to have access to the Air Force Academy.  You will need to go to Pass and Registration, located on the right side of the road, just before the south gate entrance on N. Academy Blvd. (it's a glass building with a large flagpole in the front.)  Park at the back of the building and go to the door on the west side.   Pass and Registration will run a quick background check and take a picture of you for your DBIDS Card. Be sure to bring the following documents:

  • Car registration

  • Driver's license

  • Proof of car insurance

Pass and Registration is open M-F: 7:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m., and is closed all federal holidays.

Your DBIDS card allows you entry onto the base and allows you to bring your student and their siblings onto the base. Your DBIDS does not allow you to bring guests to the Air Force Academy.  You may enter the Air Force Academy through either North or South gate with a DBIDS card.

All school events are on the master calendar and guests may enter the Air Force Academy through the south gate.  You will not need a DBIDS card to access the base for school events; all you need is a current driver's license.

You will need to get your DBIDS card before the first day of school to be able to get on base.  Please give yourself ample time when you go to get your DBIDS card. It can take 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on how busy they are.

If you have any questions, please email Lucinda Lewis or call her at at 719-234-2400.

Renewing DBIDS Cards

Please check your DBIDS card expiration date. If you are within 30 days of expiration, you will need to go back to Pass and Registration and get a new card.  You will need to provide the identification documents listed above.

DBIDS Cards for Other Family Members

If base access is needed for anyone other than the enrolled students' parents/guardians, please email Lucinda Lewis or call her at at 719-234-2400 to get those family members added to the DBIDS list. Before contacting us, be sure to add the person you're requesting access for to be listed as an Emergency Contact in your student's Infinite Campus account under the Extended Parent Portal.

Base Passes and DBIDS cards are only issued to parties over the age of 18. They cannot be issued to anyone under 18 years old.
