F.L.I.G.H.T. (For Learning, Intervention, Guidance, Help, & Tutoring) is a class designed for students who would benefit from an opportunity to receive additional academic support. Areas of focus include planning, organization, study skills, studying for tests, goal setting and homework completion. This course helps students in identifying areas of opportunity for growth, and strengths; and to self-advocate for their academic needs and successful high school completion.
Guided Study Hall is an intensively monitored small venue study hall in which the facilitator actively works with students in completing assignments, studying for tests and quizzes, and completing projects. The guided study facilitator acts as a liaison between the intervention coordinator, teachers, students and parents to ensure that grades and grade issues are communicated in a timely manner.
PILOTS (Preparing Individual Learning Observing Their Strengths) students will learn about the way the brain functions to identify personal strengths and weaknesses and how to self-advocate for learning. This class helps students to build the confidence and self-advocacy skills to be successful in high school and college.
Kadet Math Access Center (KMAC) is a tutoring center staffed by math teachers, and trained peer tutors, offering support with homework, quiz and test prep, quiz and test completion, and corrections/re-takes. Students struggling in Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 will be required to visit the KMAC during their study hall – but the tutoring center is open to all students looking for a place to get support with math.
Kadet English Writing Lab (KEWL) is a tutoring center where students can get help on their language arts assignments. The KEWL is open during all eight blocks and takes walk-ins. Staffed by both peer tutors and English teachers, students can get help with reading, writing, grammar, public speaking, and vocabulary. The KEWL is also an open study space where students can enjoy a quiet area to study with free coffee and tea.
