The School Assignment Process
School Assignment occurs when a student wants to participate in athletics (soccer, swimming, track, etc.) or activities (band, choir, etc.) at a different D20 school than the school of enrollment because that activity is not offered at their current school.
The assignment process is specific to athletics and activities governed by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) at the middle and high school levels.
A student may also have an interest in an after-school activity or intramural program that is offered at another school at the middle school level. However, these requests are not subject to the placement policy and must be directed to the school involved.
Students who participate in home-based education or who do not reside in the district may be eligible to participate in our programs. For more information, please review Policy IGDJ R or contact the District Athletics and Activities Department at the Education and Administration Center via email or by calling 719-234-1214.
Once a student has been placed for participation at the high school or middle school level, all CHSAA transfer bylaws and penalties will apply if a student requests a re-assignment during any subsequent years of enrollment at that level. The Request for Placement (RFP) form must still be completed annually to ensure accurate placement based on the new school year.
Once the student has been formally placed for the current school year, the student must register for the requested sport through the website of the school where they will be participating in that sport. Contact the assigned school's athletics department for questions or additional information. If a student has been placed for a co-curricular CHSAA activity, the student must work with the counseling staff at the school involved to modify the student's schedule.

In-District Students (students with an academic enrollment in a D20 school)
Log in to Infinite Campus
Navigate to More > Online Registration > Athletics/Activities Placement Request Form
Select 'Start'
If you have multiple students attending D20 schools, you must fill out the athletics/activities registration for all your students before submitting.
For students who are not requesting a placement for athletics/activities, select 'No' to the question “Are you requesting to have this student placed for Athletics/Activities?” This will prevent the additional pleats from opening for that student.
Out-of-District Students (students who live or attend a school outside of D20)
Requests for placement for the 2025-26 school year will open on May 1, 2025, at 8 a.m.
