AFJROTC

The goal of the AFJROTC program is to instill in high school cadets the values of: citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. We do this by educating and training high school cadets in citizenship; promoting community service; instilling responsibility, character, and self-discipline; and by providing instruction in the fundamentals of air and space science. For more information on the AFJROTC program and courses, check out our course guide or visit our AFJROTC webpage.

Business and Marketing

Air Academy High School offers a Business, Marketing & Technology Pathway Program for students who would like to concentrate in various areas of business. The Business Department’s primary goal is to prepare students for post-secondary schooling and/or careers. Because of the academic rigor, many of our classes can be taken for elective credit and/or Pike’s Peak State College credit.

In a world in which the only thing that is constant is change, students must be willing and able to adapt to the changing needs of business and industry. These trends and changes are covered in our classes. Strategies learned in business classes today can be applied to the real world today and in the future. For more information about the Business and Marketing department, check out our course guide.

Engineering Pathway

Engineering is problem solving, plain and simple.  However, how you solve the problem requires information, analysis, and the ability to see where the problem lies. Get the details on our Engineering Pathway.

Engineering Technology

AAHS offers a four-year set of courses which, when combined with mathematics and science courses, introduces students to the scope, rigor and discipline of engineering prior to entering college. Even students not intending to pursue further formal education in Engineering will still benefit greatly from the knowledge and logical thought processes that result from taking some or all the courses provided in the curriculum. Project Lead The Way, the curriculum we use in Engineering, is a national project which partners with schools, industry and higher education institutions to increase the number and quality of engineers graduating from high school. For more information about the Engineering department, check out our course guide and additional department information.

English Language Arts

The English department is committed to teaching students to communicate effectively. We use core and self-selected texts to improve reading and listening skills, helping students to think critically about the sources they consume, analyze how arguments are built, and determine how history and culture influence literature. Students will then use what they learn from their readings to practice and improve effective communication skills through writing and speaking. For more information about the English department, check out our course guide.

Kadet English Writing Lab (KEWL) is a tutoring center where students can get help on their language arts assignments. The KEWL is open during all eight blocks and takes walk-ins. Staffed by both peer tutors and English teachers, students can get help with reading, writing, grammar, public speaking, and vocabulary. The KEWL is also an open study space where students can enjoy a quiet area to study with free coffee and tea.
