Air Academy High School is located on the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), an active military installation. Access to the school is governed by USAFA rules and regulations, which may change in response to national or international events. Academy District 20 is committed to keeping families informed and supported during any changes in base access.

DBIDS Card Requirement for Parents/Guardians

All parents and guardians of AAHS students who are not active-duty military must obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) card to access the USAFA.

To get a DBIDS card, visit the USAFA Pass and Registration Office, located on the right side of North Academy Boulevard, just before the South Gate entrance (glass building with a large flagpole). Park in the rear and enter through the west-side door.

Bring the following documents:

  • Vehicle registration

  • Driver’s license

  • Proof of vehicle insurance

Office Hours:
Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Closed on all federal holidays.

DBIDS cards grant entry to the base and allow you to bring your student and their siblings. They do not permit you to bring other guests. Cardholders may enter through either the North or South Gate.

You must obtain a DBIDS card before Check-In Day to ensure access to the base. Please allow 30 minutes to one hour for processing, depending on wait times.

Guest Access and Special Events

Guests without DBIDS cards who wish to attend school events must request access at least 24 hours in advance using the QR code or link available on the AAHS website. Once approved, guests will receive a temporary pass for event entry.

DBIDS Cards for Other Family Members

If access is needed for guests other than a student’s parents or guardians, email AAHS Secretary Jung Thomas or call 719-234-2400.
Before reaching out, ensure these people are listed as emergency contacts in Infinite Campus. If not, update the emergency contact list before requesting DBIDS access.

DBIDS cards and temporary base passes can only be issued to people 18 years and older.

Renewing an Expired DBIDS Card

Please check the expiration date on your DBIDS card. If it is within 30 days of expiring, return to Pass and Registration with your identification documents to renew your card.
