This spring, the AAHS Theatre Department is presenting Grease. The musical follows a high school romance between Danny Zuko, played by Drew Colbert, and Sandy Dumbrowski played by Liv Debney-Carr. Danny and Sandy, two teens from very different worlds, fall in love during summer vacation, but have to say their goodbyes as they don’t live near each other. Soon after, Sandy moves to a new area, and unknowingly enrolls at the same high school as Danny. Can Danny and Sandy make their summer fling last a lifetime?

When asked why people should come see the show, Carly Driscoll, who plays the part of Rizzo, said that the show is funny, with entertaining music and dance scenes. Her favorite parts of the production are the dance scenes and wearing the big dresses. Greased Lightning was mentioned as a favorite song by Garrett Sullivan, who plays the part of Vince Fontaine because of its energetic fun.

All of them said they tried out for the musical because theater is a personal passion, but also because the theater community at AAHS is so welcoming and fun. Carly said that being in theater has helped build her confidence as she plays different characters in front of an audience. Community and the strong bonds between the cast and crew keeps Garrett coming back and Liv loves the adrenaline rush before the curtain rises.

If you have never been to a musical or an AAHS play, this presentation of Grease will be a great opportunity - a performance full of laughs, unforgettable characters, and catchy tunes.
