Senior Joseph Brock has been selected for the prestigious merit-based Boettcher Scholarship. He is now a part of the 50-member Boettcher Scholar Class of 2023. He has been awarded this full-ride Colorado scholarship to prepare him for medical school. For his first year of college, Joseph has chosen to double major in Biochemistry and Petroleum Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. He has been selected for this scholarship based on his involvement, both in and out of the classroom. He has gone through countless rounds consisting of a 50+ page application, three extensive letters of recommendation, and an interview in front of Colorado’s most influential figures. It’s been many years since Air Academy has had a Boettcher Scholarship Winner, and Joseph is especially deserving of this honor based on his “superior scholastic ability, intellectual curiosity, leadership and involvement, service to community and school, and outstanding character.” From endless hours of running STEM-based school clubs, to his involvement in vocal music, his independent biochemical research, and his leadership in the Southern Colorado Mountain Caving Grotto, Joseph is thrilled for this opportunity that will set him up for his future endeavors, and AAHS is looking forward to seeing what he accomplishes next!
